Original U.S. WWII Set of Four 1942 Dated 40mm Bofors Gun Rounds with Original Clip - Inert

Original Item: Only One Set Available. Totally inert and demilitarized according to BATF guidelines with hollow body and inert fuses. These pieces of ordnance cannot be converted to an explosive device and are not available for export.

These are genuine World War Two dated 40mm Bofors gun rounds in a clip. Each round (minus 1) bears a 1942 date on the band that connects the shell and projectile, with 1942/1943 dates on the base of the shells. The rounds are all heavily worn and dented and make for a fantastic display. Three rounds have the same fuze type while the fourth has a solid projectile. Each projectile measures approximately 17 3/4" long. The clip the rounds are in is a U.S. NAVY BU. ORD. marked example which is also marked with a contract number but no date. All four rounds have holes drilled into the sides of the shells as part of the demilling process. All four rounds also have heavy denting and verdigris as shown.

The Bofors 40 mm gun, often referred to simply as the Bofors gun, is an anti-aircraft autocannon designed in the 1930s by the Swedish arms manufacturer AB Bofors. It was one of the most popular medium-weight anti-aircraft systems during World War II, used by most of the western Allies as well some captured systems being used by the Axis powers. A small number of these weapons remain in service to this day, and saw action as late as the Persian Gulf War.
