The Story

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a lovely T-5 Parachute bag used on D-Day by a Paratrooper in the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne. It is stamped with the initials of 502 Parachute Infantry Regiment commander George Van Horn Moseley (GVM). All 101st Airborne parachutes and reserve chutes had the initials of their commanders stamped for D-Day. The hooks on this example were replaced later, but the initials confirm that this bag was used by a 502nd Paratrooper on D-Day!

The bag retains its markings:

G.V.M. is faintly stamped on the back, for 502 Parachute Infantry Regiment commander George Van Horn Moseley. All 101st Airborne parachutes and reserve chutes had the initials of their commanders stamped for D-Day. Unfortunately, the hooks are later additions to the bag, but all else is original.

A fantastic D-Day used bag, ready for further research and display.
