The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. Constructed from a legally demilitarized (de-milled) parts set, this is a very nice example of a Danish Madsen Display Light Machine gun, produced by IMA years ago, and just purchased back at a recent military show. It is built from all original parts on an original BATF compliant non-firing inoperable shortened display receiver, making this a 100% legal display machine gun. This receiver was created by using portions of the original torch cut receiver, including the barrel bushing, and has had 25% of the length removed, making this totally legal to own without a license of any kind. These are constructed of 95% original parts (a couple pins and minor parts maybe post war manufactured), manufactured in Denmark and extensively used by Germany during WWII after the invasion of Scandinavia.)

Complete with original issued bipod, steel carry handle, wood butt stock, and detachable magazine, our display gun still has an operational hammer and trigger assembly so weapon can be cocked using the charging lever and dry fired. This makes a very satisfying "clunk-click" noise that really adds to the piece. The selector switch is still present, and can be moved a bit as as well, though it does not move to any other positions. In 8mm (German) this became a very reliable weapon for the Third Reich in WWII. It still retains much of the original stove black painted finish on the metalwork.

This example is in very nice condition, with a solid butt stock, is mostly parkerized in finish, so it probably was refinished at some point after being made into a display gun. The flash hider is instead painted with our lovely "gunmetal gray" finish. It still bears original MADSEN markings on the receiver, along with serial â„– 2209. The display gun comes with a lovely leather two magazine capacity magazine pouch, as well as a leather tool pouch, which is unfortunately. Two magazines will be included where permissible, otherwise spring and followers will be removed.

The Madsen is a light machine gun that Julius A. Rasmussen and Theodor Schouboe designed and proposed for adoption by Colonel Vilhelm Herman Oluf Madsen, the Danish Minister of War, and that the Royal Danish Army adopted in 1902. It was the world's first true light machine gun produced in quantity and Madsen was able to sell it in 12 calibers to over 34 countries. The gun saw extensive combat usage for over 100 years, with continued use in limited quantities worldwide into the 2010s. The Madsen was produced by Compagnie Madsen A/S (later operating as Dansk Rekyl Riffel Syndikat A/S and then Dansk Industri Syndikat A/S).
