Original WWII Japanese Flag Set in Transit Case - 26 x 35” & 27 x 33”

Original Item: Only One Set Available. Brought back from the Pacific Theater of WWII, this is a very interesting Japanese Army WWII Flag set! It consists of a pair of National "Meatball" flags. One flag is silk/rayon while the other is a thin cotton which is tearing heavily. Both flags have the designs dyed onto them. They come contained in a very interesting case with the red “Meatball” painted on the side.

It looks like this set of flags was meant to be flown on special days or holidays, and the case has five Kanji characters painted to the side, but heavy wear to the paint has made them untranslatable.

The first flag is extremely thin silk or rayon, and measures 26 x 35”. There is some staining from the sun on the other side of the flag, and there are no corner reinforcements or tie strings. 

The second flag is a thin cotton-like material which shows very heavy tearing along the fold marks. It measures 27 x 33” and also has no corner reinforcements or tie strings. 

The case measures 4” in diameter and is 8 ¼” tall.
