The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a great complete WWII example of the BC-1000 Walkie Talkie radio set. This set was restored at one point with many pieces being replaced, repainted, with new data plates attached. The case latches are the correct original WWII style, but they are either restored or replaced.

The tubes are intact and present. Knobs and jack covers present. Markings are in English meaning this is not a post war French version. The canvas is in good condition with just small signs of wear, but it is not currently attached. The data plate was replaced but the original is still included although it has heavy damage. The original data plate reads:

SIGNAL CORPS
RADIO RECEIVER AND
TRANSMITTER BC-1000-B
6325 :CGG 29310-PHILA-44-01

This denotes a manufacture date of 1944. The set has two included antennas, the first being the more well-known floppy antenna marked AN-130, and the other is the break-apart version, which is unmarked.

The included battery has been entirely repainted and restored with replicated markings. It is very heavy and measures roughly 4 ½ x 10 ½ x 8”. We cannot guarantee functionality of any of the pieces.

The set also includes two original manuals, including the TM 11-242 Radio Set SCR-300-A, and TM 11-235 Radio Set SCR-536-A, B,C,D,E, and F.

The SW-141-V set is included with the smaller headphones, along with the handset TS-15-A. As mentioned, many items have been restored or outright replaced, likely by a reenactor who used the set.

These radios are the quintessential WWII radio communications gear. As seen on all battlefields - and used by the Army and the Marine Corps - the "walkie talkie" is everywhere a ground pounder had to go. The SCR-300/BC-1000 was a portable radio transceiver used by US Signal Corps in World War II. This backpack-mounted unit was the first radio to be nicknamed a "walkie talkie".

This is a great set, the straps are not currently hooked up to the set but they appear to be functional. Ready to restore and display.
