Original Item: Only One Available. This is quite rare, and only the second example that we have ever had! Any King William IV flintlock assembly is rare, but this one is for a saddle carbine and features some quite advanced features, such as a slide half-cock safety and an "internal" frizzen spring. It also features a "waterproof" pan with gutters on the sides, intended to let water run off the top of the gun and around the closed pan. The Lock plate measures 5 7/16 inches overall, and is marked with W R around a CROWN over TOWER, and to the right of this is dated 1835. There is also the CROWNED BROAD ARROW "lock viewers" mark to the left of the pan, and there is a CROWN / 8 on the interior of the lock plate.
The lock plate is in very good condition, showing a bit of surface oxidation on the flint clamp, but not really anywhere else. The markings are still crisp, and we do not see any major signs of cleaning in the past. The lock is fully functional, holding at half cock and firing at full, and the half cock sliding safety works great as well. The frizzen moves easily, and seals very well over the "waterproof" pan.
We've only ever offered one of these before and probably never will again. Just what you need to bring your William IV Flintlock Saddle Ring Carbine back to its original configuration!
