Original French WWI Artillery Captain’s Horizon Blue Wool Uniform Set With Stitched Ribbons - Six Ribbons Total

Original Item. Only One Available. This wool uniform tunic is in lovely, field used condition with a great patina and six original ribbons stitched on. The buttons still retain much of their original finish and all appear to be present. The tunic appears as “rough” but you have to keep in mind that the French, as well as the rest of the world, had fought a long and brutish war in their backyards. Resupplies were cut off, ambushes and attacks were always present and they were unable to acquire new items so the soldiers would have to repair and reuse what they already had, and this is a great example of that.

The jacket has three gold stripes on each cuff, denoting the French rank of Captain. The collar has lovely red-backed collar tabs with two small blue stripes and flaming bombs, denoting Artillery. The buttons further denote this. 

The left breast bears six ribbons, including the Croix de Guerre, the WWI Combatants Cross, the WWI 1914-1918 Commemorative Medal, the Orient Campaign Medal, the WWI Victory Medal, and the Italian Allied Victory Medal! There are loops for attachment of medals if you wish to attach them.

The interior shows good period wear with interior pockets and no markings we could find. This is an outstanding Artillery Captain’s uniform, ready for further research and display!
