Original German WWII Die Deutsche Wehrmacht 1936 German Cigarette Card Album - Missing Pages

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very nice Pre-WWII Die Deutsche Wehrmacht (The German Armed Forces) softcover "cigarette card" album collectors book. Dating from 1936, these books were originally purchased empty and customers would get a photograph with every purchase of a pack of cigarettes. These served the dual purpose of helping to stiffen the packaging, as well as being collectible items. The photos are fully colored and detailed making the finished product very impressive. Even the flak gun image on the front is raised and embossed. The pages contain large amounts of information regarding the German Armed forces of the early NSDAP period, with color plates showing insignia, pages of text, and the pages filled with the cards and descriptive captions.

This example is unfortunately missing numerous pages, which included both color plates as well as several pages that would have contained cigarette cards. These were very popular to use as sources for scrapbooks, and the pages look to have been completely torn out. We unfortunately do not have an original to compare to, so we cannot tell how many pages are missing, but we can definitely see that at least 100 of the original 270 postcards and their locations are missing.

The cover shows wear and minor damage do the embossed designs from the bronze powder oxidizing, but other wise looks great. The book measures roughly 10½ x 13” and comes ready for further research and display.
