Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is the scarce Prisoner of War Officer’s camp identification card of U.S. Captain Eugene M. McDonough, 746th Tank Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. The ID Card is unfortunately in two pieces, split down the middle. It is dated November 18th, 1944, and measures 4 x 5¾”.
The card lists the name as Mc. Donough, Eugene M., the rank as Hauptmann, and the Identification number as 88890 IXII A. The photo of him shows the same ID number, with Captain & Tank Corps collar insignia.
Some preliminary research shows Lieutenant Eugene M. McDonough listed among officers of the 746th Tank Battalion, but there is still more information to be found.
