Original Item: Only One Available. This is a gorgeous Pennsylvania militia uniform set for a Corporal, dating to the 1870s & 1880s. This is the first example we have had, and there is very little reference for militia uniforms of this period. The coat has great PA state buttons all backmarked to Scovill Mfg. Co. of Waterbury, Connecticut, besides one which is a replaced federal button. There are also likely some buttons missing.
The construction of the uniform is correct for the period, with an overall fragility and great interior stitchwork. There is some tearing in the lining which obfuscates a name that was once written under the collar.
The trousers are matching and once had a tag which is now ripped away. The red & gold seams match the coat, and make for a fantastic display.
Perfect for any PA militia collection, ready for display.
